 1898 A fire at the Eddystone Elementary school shines a light on the need for fire protecion.
 1900 The Eddystone Fire Company is officially formed.
 1900 The company purchases its first piece of fire apparatus from the Felton Fire Company of Chester, Pa, a hose carriage.
   
   
 1917

An explosion rocks the Eddystone Munitions Plant!

133 people are killed! Of those who died in the explosion, mostly women and young girls, 55 were never identified. A memorial stands at Chester Rural Cemetary.

On the morning of Monday, April 10, 1917 at approximately 9:55 am an explosion destroyed F building where employees were loading shells.

The cause was never determined, though sabotage was suspected.

The Eddystone Fire Company celebrates 100 years of service to the community! 

An engine and an ambulance are housed.

September 11, 2001

A group of Eddystone firemen respond to the nation's call for help at the scene of the World Trade Center tragedy. (Ali Erbayri, Jr., Julian P. Watras, Dave Reilly, and Shaun Shields). They remain at work in New York City for several days.  A second group follows the following day.
